All Week:

Center City Restaurant Week

January 22 — 27, various times
Center City, Philadelphia

The first week of Center City Restaurant week is taking place all week long. Participating restaurants will be offering prix fixe menus, making your dining experience easy! Reservations are highly suggested, so take a look at the offerings and make a plan for a family night out, date night, or dinner with friends. 

“Jurassic World”

January 22 — 29, 9:30 am — 5 pm and 5 — 8 pm
The Franklin Institute, 222 N. 20th St., Philadelphia

“Jurassic World: the Exhibition” is running strong until April. If you haven’t made it out yet, now’s your chance! Our readers have been offered an exclusive discount for $5 off daytime admission to the exhibition, so there’s never been a better time to go. Enjoy! Daytime tickets are $34.95 for adults and $29.95 for children (included general admission to the museum). Nighttime tickets are $19.95 for adults and $14.95 for children. Different rates apply to members and groups.

Orchid Extravaganza

January 23 — 27, 10 am — 5 pm
Longwood Gardens, 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square

Springtime might be a few months away, but if you’re impatient for warmer weather and gorgeous blooms, you’re in luck. It’s an Orchid Extravaganza at Longwood Gardens from now until March 31. See 4,500 stunning orchid flowers all throughout the conservancy, the Pierce du Pont house, and in the visitor center. This event is included with general admission.

Indoor Mini Golf

Januar 23 — 27, 9 am — 5 pm
Linvilla Orchards, 137 Knowlton Road, Media

There’s no need to wait until summer to take part in mini golf when you can head to the indoor mini golf course at Linvilla Orchards! Presented by the Academy of Natural Sciences, Fore! The Planet is as interactive and educational as it is fun. Tickets to mini golf are $6.95 for ages 11 and up and $5.95 for ages 10 and under.

Kehler’s Fun Factory

January 24 — 27, 10 am — 2:30 pm

Kehler’s Gym, 680 Parkway Dr., Broomall

Looking for some indoor fun this week? Kehler’s Fun Factory is open from Tuesday through Friday for children ages 1 — 11. Let the kids explore a massive play structure with tunnels, ball pits, slides, and more. Children are asked to wear clean socks at all times in the structure. Admission is $5 during the week and $7 during the weekend. Parents are welcome to hang out in the observation area for free.

Monkey Music Jungle at Momo’s Treehouse

January 24 and 26, 10:30 — 11 am
Momo’s Treehouse, 205 Arch St., Philadelphia

Head over to Momo’s Treehouse this Tuesday or Thursday morning and get moving and grooving! Children will love this exciting performance that will put big smiles on their faces! Cost for this event is $10 per child, and free for babies under 6 months.

Monday:

National Pie Day

January 23, 9 am — 5 pm
Linvilla Orchards, 137 Knowlton Road, Media

If you’re crazy for pie, you don’t even have to wait until March 14 (shout out to the math nerd readers). Pick up a pie at Linvilla on Monday and enjoy a scrumptious $5 off any pie purchased. Treat yourself!

Super Science Cyber School Day

January 23, 11 am — 1 pm
The Academy of Natural Sciences, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia

Cyber school students of all ages are invited to this fun day of hands-on science experiments and activities. Children are encouraged to meet with other cyber school children while testing their smarts at a prehistoric game show, learning with live animals, and handling fossils! Registration is required and costs $7 per child and $7 per adult attendee.

Bring Your Own Art Artist’s Salon

January 24, 6  — 7:30 pm
Main Line Art Center, 746 Panmure Road, Haverford

If you’re an artist new to the craft or a well oiled art machine, bring your work to the Main Line Art Center (and BYOB as well) to talk with other like-minded creators and showcase your work. You’ll leave the event feeling inspired and rejuvenated to keep creating. Registration is required and costs $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

Yoga at the Jenkins Arboretum

January 23, 6 — 7:30 pm
The Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens, 631 Berwyn Baptist Road, Devon

Head over to Jenkins Arboretum for all-levels yoga that will leave you feeling relaxed, which we all need right about now. Along with yoga, healthy living and stress management topics will be discussed.

Tuesday:

Family Stories and Puppet Show

January 24, 6:30 — 7 pm
Media Upper Providence Library, 1 E. Front St., Media

Who doesn’t love a fun and friendly puppet show? Enjoy a puppet show and story time this Tuesday evening at the Media Upper Providence Library to get the kids out of the house and enjoying themselves, no TV needed. This event is free and open to the public.

Terrarium How-To

January 24, noon — 1 pm
The Rothman Cabin, Dilworth Park, 1 S. 15th St., Philadelphia

Terrariums are all the rage, but sometimes a YouTube video and a Pinterest how-to just won’t cut it. Learn from the masters! Julie Bare, estate gardener at the Meadowbrook Farm, will be teaching an informative class on how to build your own indoor mini-garden. This event is free.

Storytime: Winter Wonderland

January 24, 1:30 — 2 pm
City Park, Floor 1, The Please Touch Museum, 4231 Avenue of the Americas, Philadelphia

The winter we’re currently having is milder than most, which makes it the perfect time to head to the Please Touch Museum for a cozy winter-themed story time that will get you in the spirit while building literacy skills. This event is included with general admission to the museum.

Wednesday:

Nature Celebrations Around the World: Lunar New Year

January 25, 10 — 11:30 am
Tyler Arboretum, 15 Painter Road, Media

Celebrate the Lunar New Year at the Tyler Arboretum this Wednesday with food, games, and education about the holiday. This class is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Register here.

Dinner Prep

January 25, 2 — 4:30 pm
Wayne Art Center, 413 Maplewood Ave., Wayne

Want to learn more about food prep? We can’t all be iron chefs, so let chef Chiwishi help you out in the kitchen using farm fresh foods in this informative class. Registration is required and costs $65 per participant.

Main Line Camp Fair

January 25, 5:30 — 8:30 pm
Conestoga High School, 200 Irish Road, Berwyn

Meet with over 70 different camp representatives from around the area at this informative camp fair on Wednesday evening. There will be door prizes, giveaways, and more. Have a teen looking for a summer job? Bring them along to meet with camp reps looking to hire! Admission is free.

Thursday:

Family Storytime

January 26, 11 am — 11:30 am
Little Theater at the Upper Merion Township Library, 175 W. Valley Forge Road, King of Prussia

This storytime is best for children up to 5 years old and their caregivers, with a focus on mixing literacy skills with rhythm, music, and movement activities. Registration is required, but this event is free.

Lunch and Learn

January 26, noon — 1 pm
Mercato Italian Restaurant and Bar, 33 Market St., West Chester

If you’re thinking about a Disney trip, we know you’ve got questions. Get answers, and give to a good cause, while you enjoy lunch at this event. Admission is a $5 donation to the charity partner (the Plaid Pajamas Project) which will be matched by WhirlAway Travel. Get your tickets here.

Tiny Trackers: Oh, Deer!

January 26, 1 — 2:30 pm
Tyler Arboretum, 15 Painter Road, Media

Bring your bambinis over to Tyler Arboretum this Thursday to learn more about Bambi! The white-tailed deer is Pennsylvania’s state animal, and this program for kids will center around what makes these animals great at surviving during the winter time. Registration is required and is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. (Fee is for the child only, caregivers are expected to accompany their child.)

Friday:

Sensory Play

January 27, 10 am — 1 pm
The Play Café, 934 W. Lancaster Ave., Bryn Mawr

Join the Play Café for sensory play this Friday morning through afternoon. The studio transforms to allow children to explore the studio space by touch, feel, smell, and sight. This event is included with admission to the Play Cafe.
