A master list of celebrations, movies, concerts, and more to keep your family busy all summer long.

Summer is made for fun, and you can’t be on vacation the whole time. So we put together this master list of free family summer activities around the Main Line to keep you busy all summer!

June

Superhero Saturday

June 2, 1 — 4 pm

Your family will enjoy character appearances, family activities, and a celebration of fictional and local heroes!

Montgomery School Community Fair

June 2, 10 am — 12:30 pm

1141 Kimberton Road, Chester Springs

 

Bring your entire family to his free event with fun for all ages! Meet Curious George, see a fire truck up close, bounce and take part in STEAM challenges, creek walks, hayrides and art projects.

Kimberton Block Party 

June 2, 1 — 4 pm

East Pikeland Township, 1158 Rapps Dam Road, Phoenixville

 

Help us celebrate Kimberton Park’s 20th birthday with a big party!  Activities include: Elmwood Park Zoo on Wheels 1-3pm, amphitheater ribbon cutting and performances by the Springer Studio at 2:30 pm, inflatable obstacle course, toddler bounce house, pinatas (every 30 mins), decorate your own cupcake, and more!

Junior Ranger Day

June 2, 2 — 3:30 pm

Hibernia Park, 1 Park Road, Coatesville

 

Children ages five to 11 will take a guided park tour, learn outdoor safety tips, and learn about the plant and animals that live in the park. There will be a chance to tour the ranger vehicles and equipment.

Super Sunday

June 3, 11 am — 5 pm

Downtown West Chester on Gay Street between Matlack and Darlington Streets

 

Enjoy more than 100 food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, information booths, two stage areas for live music, the children’s fun zone featuring a variety of moon bounces, games, and zip lining.

Swingin’ Summer Thursday

June 7, 6:30 – 9 pm

Downtown West Chester

 

Enjoy an evening in Downtown West Chester where there will be food, music, clowns, artists, magicians, jugglers, and lots of family fun!

Touch-a-Truck

June 7, 4 — 6  pm

Eagleview Town Center

565 Wellington Square, Exton 

 

Give your child a fun-filled afternoon exploring our huge variety of trucks and vehicles, and make difference in the lives of children in crisis at the same time. Donations of children’s books and school supplies are appreciated. All donations will go to SafeBerks to benefit children impacted by domestic violence.

Ice Cream Social 

June 7, 4 — 7 pm

Chester Springs Creamery, 521 E. Uwchlan Ave., Chester Springs

 

Join us to bring in summer while you enjoy a free delicious ice cream cone at the historic Milky Way Farms.  Feel free to walk about the Springhouse area experiencing the genuineness of the Milky Way Farm and visiting animals in their habitats.

59th Annual Fun Fly

June 9th, 8 am — 5 pm

VFSS Club Field Valley Forge Road, Wayne

 

This family-oriented club event is open to the community and will feature demonstrations, contests and lots of model aircraft. 

Festival in the Park

June 9th, 3 — 7 pm

Evans Park, 2424 Malehorn Rd, Chester Springs

 

The free public festival will offer music, contests, delicious local food, games for all ages, and something for everyone to enjoy!

Colonial Children’s Day

June 9, 10 am — 4 pm

The Mill at Anselma, 1730 Conestoga Road, Chester Springs

 

Come tour the mill and enjoy hands on activities that children would have done in the Colonial area: Think homemade ice cream, games and a puppet theatre. Children who come in a colonial-themed costume receive free admission.

Welcome Summer Celebration

June 10, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Wayne Art Center413 Maplewood Ave., Wayne

 

Join us in welcoming summer with crafts, demos, caricatures, face painting and music set up in our gardens and studios. Pack some lunch for a picnic in our children’s garden, or bring a bike to ride along the Radnor Trail afterwards. Come see all we have to offer during this free family event!

Kid Crew Presents ‘Dig! Plant! Grow!’ By ArtyPantz Productions

Ice Cream at the Movies: ‘Moana’

East Brandywine Township Community Park, 440 Dilworth Road, Downingtown

 

Come enjoy a complimentary screening of Moana under the stars. Be sure to enjoy $1 ice cream that will be offered at every movie.

Dog Friendly Movie Night

June 15, 8 — 9:30 pm

Osbroune Park, 1014 S. Concord Pike, West Chester

 

Bring your canine companion as we watch Wallace & Gromit:  The Curse of the Were-Rabbit – the claymation adventure of an eccentric inventor and his trusty dog. Popcorn and a snack for your pooch will be available.

Kids Fest

June 16, 10 am — 1 pm

Great Valley Middle School, 255 North Phoenixville Pike, Malvern

 

State Representative Duane Milne will host this event packed with kid-friendly activities. Come for the rolling video game stations, the rock wall, meet Darth Vader, get a balloon animal and more.

Bubble Festival

June 16, 11:30 am — 3 pm

Valley Forge Baptist, 616 S. Trappe Road, Collegeville

 

Come watch Grandpop Bubbles perform his amazing ‘Bubble Festival’ and don’t miss the yummy food trucks.

Family Fun Day

June 16, noon –4 pm

Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, 1710 Ridge Road, Pottstown 

 

Enjoy hayrides, pony rides, carnival games, moon bounce, visits with the Ryerss horses, and food.

Radnor’s Great American Backyard Campout

June 16, time TBD

The Willows Park, 490 Darby Paoli Rd, Villanova

 

Bring your own camping supplies and tent and enjoy a night in the park.  Radnor Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be on hand to help you pitch your tent, teach you how to set up a campsite and start a campfire.  Don’t miss the ‘Stories and S’Mores’ or the ‘Hike Through The Willows.’ The event is free, but registration is required.

Star Party

June 16, 8:30 — 10:30 pm

Join the Chester County Astronomical Society for a guided tour of the planets, constellations and other visible features.  See all of this through high-powered telescopes.

Summer Kick Off Picnic

June 20, 6 — 9 pm

Green Valleys Watershed Association, 1368 Prizer Road, Pottstown

 

Kick-off the start of summer and “Wednesday Nature Nights.” BYO picnic, with free lemonade and ice cream! A nature walk is scheduled for 6:30 pm followed by a “Birds of Prey” program at 7:30 pm

Family Safety Expo

June 22, 6:30 — 10:30 pm

Wilson Farm Park, 500 Lee Road, Chesterbrook

 

Bring the kids for the moon bounce, inflatable slide and ice cream.  There will be live music, fire engines and the PennSTAR helicopter. Don’t miss the outdoor movie Despicable Me 3, which begins at 8:30 pm.

The Great American Campout

Bring the family tent, sleeping bags and flashlight; enjoy a night under the stars in the outdoors; Bathrooms will be provided; Children must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older.  Families must register by sending an email to recinfo@gavtwp.org

Classic Movie Night: Casablanca

Science Tellers

June 27, 10:30 am — noon

Oakbourne Park, 1014 S. Concord Road, West Chester

 

Science Tellers will present a Wild West adventure story about a bank-robbing outlaw.  Volunteers from the audience will help explore the science behind chemical reactions, acids and bases, combustion, air pressure, inertia, and more.

Who’s Awake Family Night Hike

Join this easy guided hike and learn what goes on in the park after dark.

‘Shrek The Musical’ 

June 30, 2 pm ; July 1, 1 and 4 pm

SALT Performing Arts is back with this hilarious stage spectacle, based on the Oscar-winning smash hit film and outrageous Broadway musical about everyone’s favorite ogre.  While no admission is charged, we hope that you will bring a canned food item to donate to the Chester County Food Bank.

East Goshen Community Day

June 30, time TBD

East Goshen Township Park, 1661 Paoli Pike, West Chester

 

The fun-filled event includes moon bounces, live music, health screenings, a helicopter landing, petting zoo, a few surprises and ten food trucks serving a delicious bevy of options! The night ends with spectacular fireworks display extending over the Applebrook Park vista!

July:

Uwchlan Township Community Day

July 7, 4 pm

Lionville Park, 1 Devon Drive, Exton

 

Free games, attractions, and activities for all ages.  Enjoy a variety of food, from ice cream to BBQ, from local vendors and food trucks. Don’t miss the fireworks display and complementary glow necklaces.

Reading With the Radnor Police

July 9, 11 am

This program is a great opportunity to get to know your local police officers. There will be a story, some snacks, and an opportunity to ask questions about some of the things our police officers do each day. There might even be tours of the police vehicles or surprise visits from the K-9 officers!

Fire in the Barrens

Learn how firefighters extinguish wildfires and then test equipment and gear used to get the job done.  This program is for children ages 8 and older.

Youth Archery Night
