Main Line and Philly Spring Break Camps

Working over spring break? Here are some great options for your kids.

Your kids love Spring Break, but if you’re not able to take a vacation for the whole time, it can be rough on parents. With Easter and the beginning of Passover both on April 1 this year, school breaks are all over the calendar. These camps let you go to work while your kids have some fun!

Philly

Arden Theatre Co.

March 26 — 30, 9:30 am — 4:30 pm

Grades K-5

Hamilton Family Arts Center, 62 N. Second St., Philadelphia

 

At Arden Drama School, kids learn new skills while working on an original play. They perform it for parents at the end of the week! The cost is $350 for the first camper and $325 for additional campers.

Philly Art Center

9 am — 3 pm

Ages 5 — 12

Kids can spend the day in the studio at Philly Art Center’s Queen Village and Fairmount locations. Age groups are split up and guided by teachers who structure creative playtime where kids can draw, build, collage, paint, and more. Sign up for one day or any combination of days for $74 each day.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms

March 22, 23, 26-30; April 2, 9 am — 3 pm (half day and extended care available)

Ages 4 and up

Switch up your child’s sitting at a desk all day routine to climbing walls! Kids will spend the day learning bouldering and top rope skills, while also strengthening their problem solving, communication, and teamwork. Kids will also do team building exercises, arts and crafts, and even yoga to help with balance and body positioning. Choose from full day for $80 or half day til noon for $45. Extended care is also available for an additional $10 an hour. Philadelphia Rock Gyms have seasonal camps at all four of their locations in the area, so check out their website for all the options.

Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education

March 26-30, 8 am — 3 pm

Ages 5 — 12

Turn your kids’ days off into an adventure! Campers hike, do activities, and generally have fun enjoying nature. Cost is $62 per day (member discounts apply), and extended day until 6 pm is available for an additional $15.

Pinnacle Parkour Academy

March 29-30

Ages 6 — 16

Coaches will lead students through challenges, skills, and games, with some awesome open gym time mixed in. Lunch is also included.

Phield House

Your sports lovers will love this camp. You can pick full day ($100) or half day ($55), and extended care is available for an extra cost.

Philadelphia School of Circus Arts

April 2-6, 9 am — 3 pm

Ages 7-14

If your child harbors a secret desire to run off to the circus, this is the perfect camp for them! Kids can come for a day or the whole week, and spend time improving their strength and balance while having a blast. Cost is $80 per day, or $375 for the whole week.

Academy Science Camp

March 29-30 and April 2-4, 9 am — 4 pm (extended care available)

Ages 5 — 12

The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia

 

Spend the day getting to know dinosaurs, bugs, and live animals at the Academy of Natural Sciences! It’s $60 per day and $275 for all five days for members, and $65 and $300 for non-members.

ZoomDance Camp

March 29 — April 6, 9 am — 3 pm (extended care available)

Ages 2.5-6

Equilibrium Dance, 1802 S. Broad St., Philadelphia

 

Children ages 3 — 6 are welcome at this day camp where moving and grooving is encouraged. You can sign up for one day or the whole week. Half day options as well as aftercare and before care are available. The cost is $60 for a full day and $40 for a half day.

Wayne Art Center

Swing into the foam pit, climb the rock walls, play in the massive fun zone and much more during spring break camp at Kehler’s. Call 610-359-9999 to register your child. The cost is $29.99 per day, or $135 for the week.

Marple Sports Arena

March 26-30; April 2, 8 am — 4:30 pm

Let your kids enjoy an active break from school with rock climbing, skating, sports play, and arcade time at this fun center. The cost is $40 per day.

The Handwork Studio

March 23, 26-30; April 2, 9 am — 3 pm (morning and afternoon half days available)

Ages 5-12 for Handwork Camp; 9-15 for Fashion & Machine Sewing Camp

Creative, project-based crafting is the name of the game at the Handwork Studio. Older kids can opt for a full day of fashion and machine sewing for $105; a full day of handwork camp is $95. Kids will leave with one or two completed projects. Early care and aftercare is available at an additional cost.

The Center on Central

March 26-30, 9 am — 4 pm (half day and before and after care available)

This creative arts camp is offered on days when children are out of school. Kids will do arts and crafts project, as well as movement activities like yoga. It’s $75 for a full day.

Riverbend Environmental Education Center

March 23, 26-30; April 2, 9 am — 3:30 pm (extended care available)

Ages 4—11

Riverbend Environmental Education Center, 1950 Spring Mill Road, Gladwyne

 

Grounded in nature-based STEM education programs, children at Riverbend will enjoy hikes, outdoor exploration, crafts, science experiments and hands-on activities. The cost is $75 per day for non-members, with discounts for members and an additional fee for extended care.

Kitchen Wizards

BSD Code + Design Academy

Introduce your kids to coding, and they get a pizza lunch, too. Cost is $200 per day, or buy four days, get one free ($800 for the week).

Tyler Arboretum

Let the kids get outside and enjoy nature during these relaxed days. The March 27 camp will focus on trees; the March 28 camp will be about earthquakes and building safer structures. The cost is $45 for members and $60 for non-members.

Young Sports

March 26-30, February 19, 9 am — 1 pm (with add-ons available)

Ages 2.5—8

A full day of fun engaging your child physically, socially, and mentally in a controlled, indoor environment. Kids will engage in sports, games, team activities, crafts, and stories, as well as have the opportunity to craft their experience with “choice time” in the afternoon.
