Connecting with Local Families With Main Line Parent and Philadelphia Family in 2017 – 2018

For seven years, Family Focus Media has made connections between local businesses, schools, and organizations and the region’s families. Now, we’re pivoting to a digital-first strategy to deliver even better results.

What’s New?

We’re taking our content almost exclusively online, with three printed guide opportunities to reach a our growing audience each year. And we’re honing our targeted social, email, and event opportunities to increase engagement with our readers.

Main Line Parent and Philadelphia Family GUIDEBOOKS, Three Times Per Year

Our NEW Main Line Parent and Philadelphia Family Guidebooks, with their beautiful photos and family-to-family approach to storytelling, are drawing raves from our clients. So we’ve decided to replace our traditional magazines’ model of articles plus advertising in a print silo with a more integrated approach.

We’ve seen the power of using our team’s visual and storytelling skills to create custom profiles and portraits of local businesses and schools in print, online, and on social media. We’ve also had success with our events, which this year include Education Fairs at The Please Touch Museum in Philly (10/1) and St. David’s Episcopal Day School in Wayne (11/4).

We know our readers spends most of their time online (and on their phones!), but we remain convinced that there’s still powerful value in the permanence and tangible quality of print. So we are concentrating our efforts on print products that can be read and displayed for a full 12 months, to maximize our clients’ investments: Guides.

In 2017-2018, we’ll produce three of these annual, perfect-bound guidebooks, with the same high quality you’ve come to expect from our magazines. They are our Education Guides (September 25th/ January 25th release), Family Guides (January/February Release), and Baby Guides (April/May release). Each guide will have opportunities for clients to place traditional ads, purchase listings or spotlights — including testimonials from families — and buy full-page features of your business, school, or resource, with original content and photos we can help you create.

The Heart of What We Do: Digital and Mobile Innovations for Our Business Members

Late last year, we moved to a united website, FamilyFOCUS.org, to bring our two brands together and take advantage of the significant overlap between the city and suburban markets. We remain focused, however, on the neighborhoods and activities that make Philly and the Main Line different places, and we want to continue that neighborhood-level focus with our Main Line Parent offerings at familyfocus.org/mainlineparent and Philadelphia Family content at familyfocus.org/phillyfamily.

We’re already the hub for local families looking for things to do with their kids, as well as news and information that’s relevant to parents. With an improved online event calendar and a stronger push to produce engaging, important stories online, we’re confident our audience will continue to grow.

Family Focus Media has been an innovator with sponsored content in the Philadelphia-area market since 2010, producing beautiful, well-done articles that moms and dads want to read. These online sponsored stories will continue to be a prime opportunity for our clients to reach our audience, with a featured position on our home page and heavy promotion in our email newsletters and social media channels.

As our website continues to become integrated into our readers’ daily media diet, so will the messages and offerings of our clients. To help make that happen, we’re moving forward with web design changes to make our site more mobile-friendly (a critical way to increase audience engagement) and tweaks to our newsletters and social media efforts to draw in even more readers.

The Final Pillar: Events

Our events give our audience the chance to connect in real life, and give clients the chance to meet our audience, face-to-face, in family-friendly settings. Here’s what’s on tap for the next year:

  1. Business Members’ Back to School Social: September (date TBD)  Make sure you’re signed up as a business member and you’ve joined our exclusive Facebook Group to get an invitation!
  2. Philadelphia Family Education Fair: Sunday, October 1st at the Please Touch Museum.
  3. Main Line Parent Early Childhood Education Fair: Saturday, November 4th at St. David’s Episcopal School in Wayne
  4. Philadelphia Family Camp Fair: January 21, 2018 at the Franklin Institute
  5. PLUS Mingles for our Community Members. Make sure to visit our Philly Family and Main Line Parent Community groups on Facebook for details!

We want to hear from you! Please reach out to a member of our team with any questions about any of the exciting changes or to inquire about marketing opportunities to reach local families.

Finally — though we have passed the deadline to secure a Family Profile sponsorship in the Main Line Parent and Philadelphia Family Education Guides, there’s still time to be a part of these guides AND our Education Fairs by completing the form below by Thursday, August 16th. Thank you for your support!
