10 Ways for Mom to Get Her Workout In

Looking to get some exercise but not sure what to do with the little ones? No excuses, thanks to these options.

We all know we need exercise — it’s finding the time that can be challenging when you’re a parent. Here are 10 great choices, from fun mommy-and-me yoga to hard-core workouts that give mom some alone time.

Mindful Mamas Yoga at the Play Cafe

This class is designed for parents and caregivers and children ages 5 and younger. Starting March 22, relax and recharge on Wednesdays from 10:30 — 11:15 am. The whole six-week session is $120; you can also drop in for $24 per class. Bring a mat or a towel for you and your child, and start posing. You can stay and play at this Bryn Mawr favorite, too.

Parent Fitness Series at PlayArts

On alternating Sundays, try Parent Piyo or Fit Parent Bootcamp while your partner watches your child in this cool Fishtown playspace. You can sign up for all eight weeks for $96, or drop in for $15 per class.

Born to Burpee

This is a fun way to be part of a fitness program while bringing the kids along. Each session is 45 minutes long, and kids of all ages are welcome to workout with you, either in a stroller or right beside you. These sessions are held in Havertown and will be a great addition to your day.

Focus Fitness

This Bryn Mawr favorite just added Studio K, so your kiddos can play while you sweat! This studio also offers Mommy and Me classes (including Born to Burpee).

Fit4Mom

Fit4Mom is fitness program for moms through all stages from prenatal to postnatal. They offer many different options to get exercise with your baby.  Their stroller strides class is a favorite of moms in the area — not only can you meet other moms with like-minded interests, but you get to keep healthy with baby in tow. Fit4Mom has locations in Downingtown, Exton, and West Chester, as well as a Philly franchise that offers a solo Body Back class. Find one near you!

Sweat Fitness

Sweat Fitness offers a fun way to bond with your child and get exercise by swimming! Their Mommy/Daddy/Me class is a fun way to introduce children to being in the water in a way that is not just exciting for them but incredibly safe. The kids will get to float, kick, and blow bubbles — what’s not to love? Sweat Fitness has locations in South Philadelphia, Center City, King of Prussia, Conshohocken, and more. Find yours!

Yoga Life Institute

Yoga Life Institute offers classes for pre-crawlers all the way up to toddlers in its relaxing Wayne studio. Find some bliss and bond with your child at the same time.

Wake Up Yoga

This is a great option for moms with small babies who want to get back into exercising, with the added bonus of bonding with their babies. This studio offers a Mommy and Me class at both their South Philly and Fairmont locations.  This class is designed for babies that are 6 weeks to crawling. Is your baby a bit older? At their South Philly location they offer a Mommy and Me 2 class which is for moms with children that are crawling up to age 2.

Y2BFit

This Mount Airy studio is owned and run by a mom, trainer Crystal Widmann, so it’s super kid-friendly. Try a Baby Barre Class with an infant in a front-facing carrier, or take advantage of the child care offering during select classes. The studio offers prenatal classes, too.

Moms Run This Town

Are you a runner (or want to be)? Join a local chapter (in Center City Philadelphia, Phoenixville, or West Chester/Exton) and find some training buddies.
