Visit With Splash and Bubbles at Adventure Aquarium

The popular children's show comes to life at the Camden attraction.

Adventure Aquarium is hosting a one-of-a-kind interactive experience featuring Jim Henson’s Splash and Bubbles characters and their real-life counterparts.

In partnership with PBS Kids, the Camden, New Jersey, aquarium gives kids the chance to check out live character meet-and-greets and a special 3D movie, Splash and Bubbles 3D Undersea Adventure, to bring the animated TV show to life. They can pick up a Reeftown Ranger guide and travel around the aquarium to discover the real-life versions of the characters featured on the show, which debuted on PBS stations in the fall of 2016.

“Adventure Aquarium is the only place in the country where you can meet Splash and Bubbles and their real-life counterparts daily, all while learning more about ocean life,” said Kim Perno, the aquarium’s guest experience manager, in a press release. “Kids light up when they see these colorful fish in person and have the chance to interact with them at their favorite aquarium.”

On Friday, August 11, from 6 — 8 pm, members of the aquarium and local PBS affiliate WHYY can enjoy the Splash and Bubbles experience before anyone else with a special screenings of the show, and the 3D movie, snacks, and character meet-and-greets.

There are four character-themed Exploration Stations located throughout the KidZone area of the aquarium which have hands-on activities. While learning about ocean life throughout the exhibit, kids can take the pledge to promise to protect and care for our oceans, teaching them the responsibility everyone has to maintain our wildlife.

The colorful fish attract all ages and engage audiences to immerse themselves in the undersea world while learning about the importance of aquatic conservation in a fun and accessible way.

In addition to the exhibit, Adventure Aquarium has more than 8,500 aquatic species in more than two million gallons of water. It is home to the largest collection of sharks on the East Coast and is the only aquarium in the world that houses hippos.

Splash and Bubbles runs on WHYY at 10 am weekdays, and is also available on the station’s new 24/7 kids’ channel and live stream.

The Splash and Bubbles experience is included in admission to the aquarium. For more information, visit the aquarium’s website.
